Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) is the most expensive form of fuel to heat a home. The following project was carried out in November 2013, in a 5 bed 300 sqm Tudor style home with LPG fired central heating complete with 17 steel radiators. The monthly LPG usage was an unsustainable €1000 per month. Dan decided to look for an alternative to LPG or Oil. Dan & Arlene contacted Diverse Energy to consider the benefit of installing a heat pump system to resolve their issue. After surveying the residence, we confirmed the appropriate system for their requirements would be an Altherma High Temperature (HT) heat pump system.

Dan retained the existing radiators and hot water cylinder. Our aim is to maintain a temperature of between 19/22’c to avoid large temperature swings within the property. The installation consists of an indoor located in the garage, an outdoor unit located behind the garage as seen in the photo gallery. Typical control is programmable zone thermostats and two port motorised valves to create as many zones as possible, upstairs, downstairs and hot water cylinder. Since installing their Altherma heat pump average running costs plummeted from €1000 per month to just €300 per month and operates 24/7 during the heating season. In summer time the system cycles out and can be engaged to produce hot water or the immersion heater will carry out hot water production.

Dan & Arlene have not used their LPG gas boiler since November 2013 and now solely operate their heating from the Altherma HT system Installed. They have broken free from LPG and now enjoy a constant warm home throughout winter increasing the comfort of their home and wellbeing of their family. Arlene & Dan have also substantially reduced their carbon footprint which is good for the environment, this will become a requirement most homes will need to address in the near future. By investing in Diverse Energy Arlene & Dan have reduced the running cost of heating their home and now enjoy substantial savings averaging €4500 per annum after eliminating their dependence on LPG Gas.
