O’Reilly residence
Co. Wicklow

This project was carried out in December 2014, the residence is a 4 bed 300 sqm Victorian home with oil fired central heating complete with steel radiators. Mr O’Reilly simply wanted to eliminate oil from his central heating in his elegant Regency period residence. John contacted Diverse Energy to explore the benefits of installing a heat pump system that will deliver a cost effective renewable, sustainable solution to suit his requirements. After our survey of the O’Reilly residence we confirmed the appropriate system for his specification would be an Altherma High Temperature (HT) heat pump system.

John required no alterations to the internal environs of his home including the existing radiators and hot water cylinder. The installation of his Altherma HT system complements the existing wood burning system installed a number of years earlier. The Altherma system consists of an indoor unit located in the garage, an outdoor unit located behind the garage as can be seen in the photo gallery. Typical control is programmable thermostats and two port motorised valves this residence is controlled as one zone and hot water cylinder. Since installing his Altherma system the running costs average €320 per month and operates 24/7 during the heating season. In summer time the system cycles out and can be engaged to produce hot water or the immersion heater will carry out hot water production.

John has switched off his oil fired boiler and now has a combination of wood burning stove and the Altherma HT system installed. John has broken free from Oil and now enjoy a constant warm home throughout winter increasing the wellbeing and comfort of his family and home. John has substantially reduced his carbon footprint which is essential for the environment. This will become a requirement most homes will need to address in the near future. By investing in Diverse Energy John has reduced the running cost of heating his home after eliminating any dependence on Oil or LPG.
