This project – a 3 Bed 140 sqm Bungalow – was carried out in January 2013. Mr Dignan was renovating a 1930’s Bungalow and contacted Diverse Energy to enquire if a heat pump system would deliver a cost effective alternative to suit his requirements. Peter had natural gas at his disposal. After surveying the property, we confirmed the appropriate system for his application would be an Altherma Low Temperature (LT) heat pump system. Peter contemplated installing under floor heating but decided to install aluminium radiators throughout instead. The indoor unit is located in the utility room and the outdoor unit is located behind the utility room as seen in the photo gallery.

The installation consisted of a Low Temperature indoor and outdoor unit complete with motorised valves, zone thermostats, hot water cylinder and 9 aluminium energy efficient radiators. This system is 30% more efficient than our High Temperature (HT) system and is ideal for underfloor heating, renovations, and new builds. Our aim as always to maintain a temperature of between 19/22’c and avoid large temperature swings within the property. Since installing his Altherma LT system the running costs we have calculated at €480 per year and operates 24/7 during the heating season. In summer time the heating cycle is off, however hot water production is maintained.

Peter & Roberta have no other form of heating in their home and operate solely on the Altherma LT system installed. They have a constant warm home throughout winter increasing the comfort of their home and wellbeing of their family. Roberta & Peter have substantially reduced their carbon footprint which is essential for the environment. This will be a requirement most homes will need to address in the near future. By investing in Diverse Energy Roberta & Peter have reduced the running cost of heating their home and now enjoy substantial savings into the future.
