This project was carried out in July 2012, the residence is a 5 bed 350 sqm dormer type home with oil fired central heating complete with 19 steel radiators. Mr Kiersey dismayed at having to purchase 1000 litres of oil almost monthly during the heating period. Jerry contacted Diverse Energy to explore the benefits of installing a heat pump system which would deliver a cost effective, renewable, sustainable solution to suit his requirements. After our survey of the Kiersey residence we confirmed the appropriate system for his application would be an Altherma High Temperature (HT) heat pump system.

Jerry & Helen retained all the existing radiators and hot water cylinder. Our aim is to maintain a temperature of between 19/22’c and avoid large temperature swings within the property. The installation consists of an indoor and outdoor unit as seen in the photo gallery. Typical control is programmable zone thermostats and two port motorised valves to create as many zones as possible, typically, upstairs, downstairs and hot water cylinder. Since installing his Altherma system the running costs average €240 per month and operates 24/7 during the heating season. In summer time the system cycles out and can be engaged to produce hot water or the immersion heater will carry out hot water production.

Helen & Jerry have switched off their oil boiler and now operated solely on the Altherma HT system installed. Helen & Jerry have broken free from Oil and now enjoy a constant warm home throughout winter increasing the comfort of their home and well being of their family. Helen & Jerry have substantially reduced their carbon footprint which is essential for the environment. This will be a requirement most homes will need to address in the near future. By investing in Diverse Energy Helen & Jerry have reduced the running cost of heating their home and now enjoy substantial savings after reducing their dependence on oil to heat their home.
