Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) is the most expensive form of fuel to heat a home. The following project was carried out in March 2014 in a 5 bed 300 sqm modern family home with LPG fired central heating complete with 17 steel radiators. Richard was upgrading his gas boiler and had received a number of quotations for the work, however he decided to look for an alternative to LPG Gas.

Richard & Barbara contacted Diverse Energy to consider the option of a heat pump system. After a brief consultation and having viewed a system in operation in the estate they were happy that Diverse Energy and Altherma was the most cost effective solution for their requirements. After surveying the residence, we confirmed the appropriate system for their home would be an Altherma High Temperature (HT) heat pump system.
Richard retained all the existing radiators and hot water cylinder. Our aim is to maintain a temperature of between 20/22’c to avoid large temperature swings within the property. The installation consists of an indoor unit located in the utility room, an outdoor unit located down the garden as seen in the photo gallery. Typical control is programmable thermostats and two port motorised valves to create as many zones as possible, typically, upstairs, downstairs and hot water cylinder. Since installing their Altherma heat pump the average running cost is €300 per month and operates 24/7 during the heating season. In summer time the system cycles out and can be engaged to produce hot water or the immersion heater will carry out hot water production.

Richard & Barbara have removed their old LPG gas boiler and heat their home solely from the Altherma HT system installed. They have broken free from LPG and now enjoy a constant warm home throughout winter increasing the comfort of their home and wellbeing of their family. They have also substantially reduced their carbon footprint which is essential for the environment. This will become a requirement most homes will need to address in the near future. By investing in Diverse Energy Barbara & Richard have reduced the running cost of heating their home and now enjoy substantial savings after eliminating their dependence on LPG.
