Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) is the most expensive form of fuel to heat a home. The Following project – a 6 Bed 400 sqm Modern Family Residence – was carried out in February 2015. The residence is a 6 bed 400 sqm modern family home with LPG gas fired central heating complete with 18 steel radiators. Mr Todd was near completion of his house renovation when he became aware of Diverse Energy installing heat pump systems in his locality. We arranged for him to view a system in operation close to his home and talk to the owners about their experience. Shortly after he contacted Diverse Energy to consider this option for his home. After surveying the residence, we confirmed the appropriate system for his home would be an Altherma High Temperature (HT) heat pump system.

Peter & Jenny retained the existing radiators and hot water cylinder. Our aim is to maintain a temperature of between 19/22’c to avoid large temperature swings within the property. The installation consists of an indoor unit located in the utility room, an outdoor unit located to the side of the home as seen in the photo gallery. Typical control is programmable thermostats and two port motorised valves to create as many zones as possible, typically, upstairs, downstairs and hot water cylinder. Since installing their Altherma heat pump the average running cost is €300 per month and operates 24/7 during the heating season. In summer time the system cycles out and can be engaged to produce hot water or the immersion heater will carry out hot water production.

Peter & Jenny have switched off the LPG gas boiler and now only operate the Altherma HT system installed. They too have broken free from LPG and now enjoy a constant warm home throughout winter increasing the comfort of their home and wellbeing of their family. Jenny & Peter have also substantially reduced their carbon footprint which is essential for the environment. This will become a requirement most homes will need to address in the near future. By investing in Diverse Energy Jenny & Peter have reduced the running cost of heating their home and now enjoy substantial savings after eliminating their dependence on LPG.
